When I lived there Cherwell District Council used to collect food waste in with the garden waste and compost the lot, householders who were signed up to the All I want to do is bake Christmas cookies drink beer and watch the Hallmark Shirt waste scheme then got two big sacks of compost each year free. It is a major sin to waste food. We all work for food and shelter. Food is scarce in the world and many go without that for days. We hate to throw away food and rarely dispose it unless it has gone bad for some unforeseen reasons.
Cook as much as you can consume and buy as much as you cook. Those waste food, are criminals to be punished heavily for such heinous crime. Recycle all household waste. Supermarkets, hotels and even individual household should be rewarded for not wasting food and to be heavily penalised for producing food waste. Take a lesson from Japan where you will hardly find any dirt and garbage in the street.
