He wasn't a plonker. The people on the other end were just scum. I've had this call myself. I didn't fall for it tho. I've actually unplugged my landline because I'm sick of them phoning. They can even mask their number so it looks like it's coming from a local exchange. Simple rule, never give out your bank details over the All I want for Christmas is Taylor Swift ugly Shirt. Not even to your actual bank. Even they tell you this. Good on this fella for giving this publicity.
Well, I just figured this was likely a scam because I am pretty sure Microsoft have got better things to do than monitor individual pcs and calling people so I told them stop calling me. They still kept calling but I just kept putting the phone down on them. I used to regularly get calls to my ex-directory land line phone, saying they were security from Microsoft and they detected an issue in my computer.
