I hold doors for everybody, and I've often wondered if it is a sore point for people reliant upon wheelchairs. I was brought up believing that holding doors is done out of consideration, so it's almost a compulsion if there is another person close to using the Supernatural Chibi Friends Shirt door. I work as a disability support worker, you would be surprised by the things I have experienced when accompanying clients in the community. Unfortunately, most people are extremely ignorant.
People are unbelievable. I once had a leg injury and had to use a wheelchair. The most incredulous thing that happened to me was a woman who stepped between the foot plates to climb over my leg to get to the other side of me! I am much more aware of my actions around wheelchair users now. I can’t believe people would do this! Mind I was in a few weeks ago, where an injured man was trying to get to the nurse that has just called him into triage and not one person got up to help him. I obv asked him first if he needed a hand then pushed him onwards. He was very grateful.
